History

Cadore, a land of high peaks and deep valleys, where tradition and knowledge are lost in time and legend, while the labor and ingenuity of its men become reality.

Cradle of Italian eyewear, Cadore quickly became a major industrial district with a world-recognized economy. World that in recent years with globalization and its dynamics has taken us away from the uniqueness of our tradition in the name of a common language. So these paths that slowly climbed the mountains were abandoned, and those woods became places of legends and fantastic stories again.

Here MIC – Made in Cadore – was born at the behest of Tiziano Tabacchi, an eyewear designer born and raised in Cadore. After collaborating for years with the biggest names in the eyewear industry and garnering international success and recognition, he decided to turn his creativity to the land that has inspired and accompanied him in all his creations, managing to combine tradition and imagination.

MIC is therefore not only a brand, but also an ambitious project that aims to retrace those now-forgotten paths to rediscover the purity of origin. The mastery and wisdom of the ancient tradition in eyewear blends with the love for those places, giving life and energy to a long and ever new creative process. The pale, lunar-colored Dolomites, forests with an intense resin scent and trees with strong bark are the sole inspiration of MIC models in whose details you can see the outlines of the mountains and colors drawn from the palette of those places. Few things but simple, where simplicity is the real value to be sought and defended.

Simplicity and emotion.

Born in Cadore, made in Cadore-simply MIC.

Identity

Cadore is a historical Italian territory located in the upper province of Belluno, Veneto, entirely belonging to the mountainous area of the Eastern Dolomites

Cadore was the “cradle” of Italian eyewear. The first frame factory was established in Calalzo back in 1878 by Angelo Frescura and Giovanni Lozza. In the following years, many industrial and handicraft activities related to eyewear emerged, resulting in the formation of an industrial district.

Almost in a sort of “historical course and recourse” right from here, where Italian eyewear was once born, we start today with a great challenge. And to do that, they look back to their origins, to nature, to those magnificent Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

To understand the value of the MIC collections and to grasp the meaning of the whole project, one has to go there, to the foot of the Mountain, to breathe in the brisk morning air and watch the sun dye the rock pink, one has to walk in the silent paths through the woods and intoxicate oneself with the scent of resin and damp earth. One has to put oneself into listening.

Attention to detail and reference to territorial identity are thus a constant for the MIC collection: in fact, the glasses bear an iconic element at the hinge to recall the unmistakable profile of the mountain.

Philosophy

Finishes, shapes, and shades inspired by the nature of mountain landscapes: wood, rock, and snow are mixed giving rise to bold and elegant facets.

The Dolomites are the common thread and distinctive feature of MIC’s frames, both in the color choices and in the definition of the lines, which are clearly recognizable right from the logo, whose irregular thicknesses and letter outlines echo the profile of the mountains, graphically creating a natural micro-landscape.

MIC Made in Cadore, the ambitious project born from the will of a group of companies in the area that, under the creative guidance of designer Tiziano Tabacchi and the production and commercial experience of Immagine 98, aim to tell and interpret with a new brand what has been the cradle of Italian eyewear and retrace forgotten paths to rediscover the purity of origin.

It is a project of “territorial brand of eyewear” that unites different professionalism all, however, united by a great passion: the Dolomites and the craftsmanship of eyewear born at the foot of these mountains. We want to tell this story starting from the origin, from its values of craftsmanship, quality and style by being inspired by the land and its natural beauty.

We want to tell this story starting from the origin, its values of craftsmanship, quality and style by being inspired by the land and its natural beauty.

Extreme fidelity to the land, its shapes, its colors.

DISTINCTIVE FEATURE OF ALL MIC GLASSES IS THE METAL DETAIL ON THE TEMPLE AT THE HINGE: AN ICONIC ELEMENT THAT, IN ITS ESSENTIALITY, RECALLS THE PROFILE OF THE DOLOMITES. DESIGN, QUALITY, CRAFTSMANSHIP.

DIRECTLY FROM THE MOUNTAINS, FROM TRADITION, FROM THE LIFE OF THE CADORE REGION, THIS NEW LINE OF GLASSES IS INSPIRED. THE DETAILS ECHO THE CONTOURS OF THE MOUNTAINS, AND THE COLORS DRAW FROM THE PALETTE OF THESE PLACES.
